Mr Ray Herbert, Executive Director of the Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia said, "The milestone for Victoria's plumbing industry will be celebrated today at a special ceremony at Bendigo Town Hall." Mr Verbeek has headed his own plumbing business, Verbeek Plumbing, for fifteen years and works in the Bendigo region specialising in environmental plumbing.
Mr Herbert said, "The GreenPlumbers® training programs have great relevance in relation to the continuing seven year drought and the need to develop a national water conservation policy in Australia." "Holding the award presentation in regional Victoria is a deliberate decision to promote wider appreciation of the role environmental plumbing has to play in both city and country areas of Australia." "Environmental plumbing is the fastest growing part of the industry, with an increasing number of innovative products to save water and energy." "As a plumbing industry we are also seeing major opportunities to put sustainable best practice into action to build sustainable communities through saving water, energy and money."
