The Water Smart Rebate Scheme gives you the chance to make water and money savings. The Government has committed $10 million ...

The Rebate Scheme is composed of "Core Offer" offering rebates on water-saving products, as well as a "Basket Offer" of various water-saving outdoor garden products.

Grey Water permanent tank system - Rebate $500

Rainwater Tank to toilet connection - Rebate $150

Dual Flush Toilet - Rebate $50

Water Conservation Audit - Rebate $30

High Pressure cleaning device - Rebate $30

Water-efficient shower rose - Rebate $10

Please note that eligibility for a rebate on core offer products is dependent on specific criteria.

Products will normally have to be installed by a licensed plumber and carry a Plumbing Industry Certificate (PIC) to qualify.

NSW
Both Sydney Water and Hunter Water provide rebates to pensioners for water and sewerage charges. The rebates are funded by the NSW Government.

QLD
The Queensland Government offers cash rebates on rain water tanks, dual flush toilets, shower roses, washing machines, greywater systems, swimming pool covers and even water efficient garden products through the Home and Garden WaterWise Rebates Schemes.

SA
Rebates for tap timers, water efficient shower heads and flow restrictors are available.
A standard rebate of $10 per item up to a maximum of $50, or $20 per item to a maximum of $100 for SA Water and/or Family and Youth Services concession cardholders provides an incentive to install these water saving devices.

To qualify for the rebate, customers need proof of purchase (a receipt) of an approved water-saving device or product and, in the case of flow restrictors, proof of installation by a licensed plumber.

ACT
Rainwater tanks

Rainwater tanks can be used to store water for garden irrigation, pools, drinking water, household washing and toilet flushing. ActewAGL offer a rebate on behalf of the ACT Government for the installation of approved rainwater tanks connected to the ACTEW water supply network.

Indoor water tune-up
As part of the program a specially-trained licensed plumber will visit your home at a convenient time to provide a water tune-up service and to demonstrate ways you can use less water, sensibly.

Outdoor water tune-up
As part of the program, a specially trained, qualified professional will visit your home at a convenient time to demonstrate practical ways that you can use less water through a variety of gardening techniques.

NT   
The Northern Territory Government is providing rebates of up to $50 for certain water saving products & up to $500 for eligible plumbing services purchased by residents in Alice Springs & Tennant Creek.

$50 Water Saving Product Rebates for Central Australians

A Product Rebate of up to $50 (incl. GST) is available to households in Alice Springs & Tennant Creek on eligible water saving products. Residents may claim their rebate by completing a Product Rebate Claim Form when purchasing an eligible item. Claim Forms are available at participating retail outlets and should be returned to the retailer. There is a limit of one Product Rebate (up to $50 incl. GST) per household per financial year (July-June).

Rebates are available towards selected products such as:
    * Low flow shower rose (3-star plus)
    * Flow controller 
    * Hose trigger nozzle

    * Garden timer tap
    * Dual flush toilet suite (4-star plus)
    * Washing machine (4-star plus)
    * Swimming pool cover (SAWM)

$500 Water Saving Plumbing Rebates for Central Australians

A Plumbing Rebate of up to $500 (incl. GST) is available to households in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek for the following services performed by a GreenPlumber®*;

  1. Plumbing services associated with connecting a rainwater tank to a household hot water system, toilet, washing machine, air-conditioner or to supplement household drinking water supplies. Minimum tank size eligibility is 1000 litres.
  2. Plumbing services associated with installing an NT Government approved greywater diversion device. Greywater diversion devices must comply with NT Government guidelines and must be installed by a licensed plumber.

What qualifies for a rebate?

Items qualifying for a residential rebate
* Water audit on whole property performed by accredited GreenCity Service?? provider or equivalent = $30
* Replacement of single flush with dual flush toilet that must be installed by registered plumber = $50
* Rainwater storage for garden watering (Tanks greater than 1,600 litres) = $200
* Installation of rainwater storage for toilet flushing (600 litres or greater) = $300
* Replacement of leaking inlet and/or outlet valve for toilet, maintenance of leaking fixtures (eg. taps) = $30
* Water efficient showerhead (3 Star-rated or higher) = $12
* Water effecient tap ware (3 Star-rated or higher) = $12
* Water efficient washing machine (4 Star-rated or higher) = $105
* Water efficient dishwasher (4 Star-rated or higher) = $105

Items qualifying for a non-residential rebate
* Water audit on whole property = $60
* Replacement of single flush with dual flush toilet (Must be installed by registered plumber) = $15
* Waterless urinal (Must be 'WaterMark' authorised) = $60
